2022.06.05. World Environment Day - There is #OnlyOneEarth
World Environment Day on 5 June is the biggest international day for the environment. Led by UNEP and held annually since 1974, the event has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach. Sweden is hosting World Environment Day 2022 and over 150 countries are participating. The host aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045, is a frontrunner in greening its economy, and is rapidly adopting low-carbon and renewable infrastructure and technology.
We are using the equivalent of 1.6 Earths to maintain our current way of life, and ecosystems cannot keep up with our demands. Individuals, civil society, governments and the private sector are all needed to work together to facilitate the much-needed changes.
In line with global measures, FALCO Zrt. has a long tradition of implementing the transition to circular economy, which is the cornerstone of sustainable development. Looking back on a portion of the achievements of the past 12 months:
bee & tree planting,
building social homes from sustainable raw materials,
promoting responsible forest management and the conservation of domestic forest resources through the use of waste wood already harvested and used,
waste avoidance and recycling (Material Efficient Company Award).
